FLOTILLA SAILING

A flotilla is a small group of yachts sailing together with the assistance and guidance of a lead crew. A natural choice for sailors who feel they may need some assistance, and experienced sailors who like the social aspects of sailing within a group whilst having the privacy of their own yacht.

Upon arrival in Poros you will be shown your yacht and will  get the chance to meet the crews of the other yachts in your flotilla.

The next morning there will be a briefing by the lead skipper who will explain the plan for the week including the sailing route, safety information, etc. and will answer any questions you might have.

During the week the lead crew takes the stress out of mooring in unfamiliar harbours, helps you with getting supplies, assists you on technical matters with the boat and generally contribute to making your holiday more relaxing. They organise beach parties, punch parties and other fun activities during the trip so that the crews get together and share their experiences.

You will be given a briefing each morning (destination, weather, lunchtime anchorages, etc.) and the lead crew will help you depart for the day's sailing, if required.  You then sail independently until you meet at the destination harbour.

Typical Routes

The flotilla route is split into two areas, sailing north from Poros one week and south the next. Depending on the length of your holiday you can sail north, south or both.

A typical north route visits the ports of:

  • Perdika on the southern end of Aegina island.

  • Vathi the tiny fishing port on the west side of the Methana peninsula

  • Aegina Town

  • Epidhavros. Visit the ancient theatre

  • Free sail day. Many options including Methana, Korfos, Hydra, Russian Bay on Poros Island

  • Poros Island

 And a typical south route

  • Ermioni

  • Plaka (Leonidion) on the mainland Peloponnesus

  • Astrous or Navplion once the capital of Greece

  • Beach party night in a bay near Porto Kheli

  • Free sail day.  Options include Spetses, Hydra, Dhokos island
