ABOUT US

Poros Yachting Academy was founded in 2005.  Our aim is to give the highest quality sail training in a beautiful Greek landscape.

We are an Anglo Greek sailing school, based on the island of Poros in the Saronic Gulf. One hour by hydrofoil from Athens. The company is registered in the UK and is RYA recognised training centre.

Our sister companies Greek Sails, a long established Yacht Charter and Flotilla Fleet Operator, give you the opportunity to combine a sailing course with a yacht charter or a flotilla holiday in the most idyllic location.

Our base on Poros Island gives us access to a cruising area that includes the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs, the eastern Peloponese and The Cyclades. Our proximity to Athens means that you can reach the island in one hour from the port of Piraeus.

Richard is Chief Instructor. He has been sailing since he was 8 years old and raced dinghies till 1995 when he moved into offshore yachts. He has sailed to Olympic level and is your man if you want to improve your sail trimming and racing skills. His family own and run Greek Sails yacht charter here in Poros and he has too many sea miles to count! In 1987 when he last counted he had in excess of 90,000!

Graham joined us as a cruising instructor in 2007. He began his sailing career in Greece about 15 years ago and he now owns a 40 foot catamaran that he keeps in Poros. He has over 25,000 sea miles and has sailed just about every type of yacht including a 70 foot gaff rigged schooner in Australia. He’s an ex publican and so has a well grounded sense of humour!
